The Inspiration Behind Lazy Hound Events.

Lazy Hound Events didn’t start with a logo or a date on a calendar. It started at my parents’ kitchen table—the place where the coffee was always hot, the door was always open, and there was somehow always room for one more chair. If you needed a ride, a roast, a hug, or just a place to be yourself, my parents made it happen. They were professional “add-an-extra-plate” people—the kind who waved you in before you even knocked.

I didn’t know it then, but they were quietly teaching me how to host a town, not just a dinner. Community, they showed me, is the way you answer the phone. It’s setting out chairs five minutes early and stacking them twenty minutes late. It’s catching someone’s eye so they don’t sit alone. It’s asking a second question after “How are you?” and meaning it when you say, “I’m glad you’re here.”

When we brewed the very first pot of Cowboy Coffee, I could hear my dad reminding me that simple things—hot coffee, a friendly hello, a place to sit—can be the bravest things. I could see my mom’s smile in the details: an extra blanket on a chair, a space that feels softer because people come first. That became our heartbeat: connection over perfection, always.

We named it after our hounds because dogs are masters of unhurried joy. They meet you where you are and wag first, ask questions later. That easy welcome is the spirit behind our movie nights, cozy socials, and markets that showcase makers who create with heart and hands.

My parents never got to stand at the entrance and say, “Come on in,” but I feel them every time someone laughs with their whole body, or a stranger leaves as a friend. Every poster we make, every table we measure, every “Thanks for coming!”—their names are stitched through it all.

If you’re wondering whether you belong at one of our events, consider this your invitation. Bring your stories, your smile, your hope—bring a chair if you have one, and if you don’t, we’ll find you a seat. Come for the coffee, the conversation, and the simple magic of being together.

For Mom and Dad—thank you for teaching me how to turn a kitchen table into a community.
